This handsomely patterned little amphibian is the Gunung Jerai Black Stream-Frog [Abavorana nazgul] a species endemic to the upper elevations of peninsular Malaysia. Only named as a new species in 2017, these frogs were previously misidentified as a melanistic phase of Abavorana luctuosa. The frog in the image is a captive specimen being studied by the University of Science in Malaysia. Image by Evan S.H. Quah.
