The Newmonthill Short Cist Burial, Meffan Institute Museum, Forfar, Scotland, 30.5.18.
This cist burial is dated from between 5000 to 3000 years ago, likely constructed in the late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. It was one of two similar cists but the other was sadly damaged by a bulldozer when locals were preparing an extension to the cemetery. The body is in a crouched position and a beaker, typically containing food or drink was placed next to the corpse. Other valuables such as daggers and beads were sometimes interred with the body.
