Tuin bij het huis van R.J. Schimmelpenninck, ambassadeur van de Bataafse Republiek, in Auteuil, door J.A. Knip, 1801. Rutger Jan Schimmelpenninck, de ambassadeur van de Bataafse Republiek in Frankrijk, gaf de Nederlander J.A. Knip opdracht een reeks schilderijen te maken. Dit schilderij toont de ‘Jardin de Bagatelle’ in Auteuil bij Parijs. In de verte is Schimmelpennincks echtgenote te zien. Zij wordt vergezeld door een heer met parasol, wellicht de Franse minister van buitenlandse zaken C.M. Talleyrand.
